Note: 1

Henry James Shields: The Times of India, 16 July 1889, via FIBIS, reports the death of Harry Shields in Birmingham on 24 May 1889; "of the Adjutant General's Department Simla aged 39 years".

There is a gravestone in the Warstone Lane Cemetery, Birmingham: http://www.jqrt.org/jqc/ss/ss_searches.html. See also PDF file.

Why was Henry(Harry) in Birmingham?

If this date is correct then it makes sense that Emma Mary Prussia re-marries in 1891, especially as she is described as "widowed" on her second marriage register entry.

Note: 2

Henry James Shields was the son of William Shields and Alice Mary (this was her surname). William was a soldier in the army. He was the third child, second son, of eight children.
